Obedience - The Foundation of Dog Training

Both companion and hunting dogs alike will reap the rewards of the foundations of basic obedience training. This is similar to teaching a child the way of the world and how to interact in it. A dog that knows boundaries and expectations, if trained correctly, will portray the desired behaviors in a variety of situations and environments.

Obedience Training Builds the Perfect Companion
Obedience training isn’t just for gun dogs. If you are bringing the animal to live at your home and interact with your family, it’s important to set the rules. This training sets tools in place to handle or gain control of the dog in any situation that may arise.

A dog that has been exposed to a variety of situations will be trained to think logically. It’s important to build this problem solving process and avoid impulsive behavior response. This training will start in a controlled environment set up for success. We’ll slowly work in distractions while maintaining a high degree of successful progress.

Foundation of Any Working Gun Dog
Just like the obedience of a companion, gun dogs need obedience training first and foremost. This training sets the stage for all lessons to be learned in the future.

Adds a level of discipline and gives control in any given environment. The stakes are higher when taking a dog into a field or on the water to hunt. There are many obstacles and situations to avoid, and obedience is a great way to build working relationship trust between you and the dog. When that situation arises, the dog will listen to you to get out of it.

This training also solidifies the connection between yourself as the handler and the dog. You both need to work as a team to get the desired result. This is done in obedience training.
